The sand-sand movement data set in some areas of the Taklimakan Desert (1960-2021) mainly includes wind data near the Mazatag Mountains, including the station's wind speed, wind direction and corresponding recording time. This data is calculated from ERA5 assimilation data and includes 543504 records per site. The data memory sizes of the three sites are: 17.3MB for the north side of Mazatag Mountain, 17.2MB at the foot of the south side of Mazatag Mountain, and 17.2MB for the south side of Mazatag Mountain. In view of the different ways data users process the original data, in order to ensure the original characteristics of the data, this data only extracts the date, the speed component in the U direction, and the speed component in the V direction from the data set, and calculates the wind direction and wind speed values of each station per hour from these two components, and the rest have not undergone any processing.

This data set is calculated from the wind speed data at a height of 10 m in the ERA5 assimilated data. For the speed components in the U and V directions at a height of 10 m, the wind speed and direction calculation formula specified in the book "Sand Physics" are used to calculate the magnitude and direction of the wind speed per hour at the station.
The data set was calculated from the U-direction velocity component and the V-direction velocity component at an altitude of 10 m from ERA5 assimilated data. The ERA5 assimilation data gives velocity component data with a time resolution of 1 h at each grid point. The production of the two components has undergone strict quality control. The wind speed and wind direction data in this dataset are calculated strictly in accordance with the basic theoretical formulas of wind speed and wind direction. Therefore, its accuracy and reliability have been widely recognized by peers in the industry.
