At the current stage of the development of irrigated agriculture, new land that was previously considered not suitable for agricultural use is constantly developed. In addition, artificial water delivery to remote and high-altitude areas was once difficult. The improvement of the level of power equipment in the national economy and the transformation of irrigation construction to an industrial foundation have made it possible to build large channels such as the Karshi Canal and the Ambukhara Canal, which mechanically lift water to highlands and remote desert areas. The contours of irrigated land often contain gray-brown gypsum-containing soil developed on thin layers of alluvial deposits (underlying salty sediments), and gypsum-containing saline soil. From the perspective of whether they are suitable for irrigated agriculture, the properties of these soils have been poorly studied. When irrigating land in piedmont plains and developing large areas of salt soil and desert land, the problem of protecting soil cover in these areas and their downstream areas is particularly prominent. This is due to the accelerated inclusion of new, previously static salts into the migration cycle and the development of anthropogenic soil change processes. This collection contains materials for in-depth research on gypsum-containing and saline soils in new irrigated areas. These materials allow for a more informed assessment of soil improvement conditions and prediction of soil changes under the influence of irrigation.
