<p>This book summarizes the experience of the Soviet Union and foreign countries in preventing land desertification and improving irrigated soil. Modern views on the geochemical laws of salt migration and accumulation in soil and groundwater, as well as the methodological principles and means for improving different types of saline soils, are expounded. Drought and soil salinization phenomena, their geographical distribution and repetition rates were investigated. </p>
