This dataset covers the Aral Sea lake basin and its surrounding buffer areas, and roughly includes salty water bodies, exposed lake beds, tail of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya delta, lakeshore terraces and adjacent desert-oasis transition zones. It is used to characterize the Aral Sea topography and undulation pattern in the context of lake basin shrinkage. The data is stored in the form of a regular grid with a spatial resolution of 5 m, horizontal coordinate system: GCS_WGS_1984 (EPSG:4326), latitude and longitude, in degrees. The elevation benchmark is EGM96, and the elevation unit is meters; the main grid band is the pixel elevation value, which can be extended to provide derivative products such as slope, aspect, curvature, confluence accumulation, terrain humidity index, lake basin water diversion/catchment boundary and relative height difference. The data comes from hydrological and topographical survey and is generated through processes such as denoising, void filling, masking of water and exposed lake beds, unification of plane-elevation datum, multi-source DEM mosaic and residual correction; the file format is GeoTIFF, and the pixel type is Float32. Invalid values are identified with-9999.
