Data source description

The data comes from the TerraClimate dataset (https://www.climatologylab.org/terraclimate.html). TerraClimate uses climate-assisted interpolation to combine high-spatial-resolution climatological norms from the WorldClim dataset with coarser spatial-resolution but time-varying data from CRU Ts4.0 and Japan's 55-Year Reanalysis (JRA55). Conceptually, the program applies interpolated time-varying anomaly data from CRU Ts4.0/JRA55 to WorldClim's high spatial resolution climate dataset to create a high spatial resolution dataset that covers a wider range of time records. JRA55 is used only for solar radiation and wind speed, and TerraClimate uses a water balance model to generate a monthly surface water balance dataset.
