<p>This booklet was compiled by the National Institute of Deserts, Vegetation and Animal World under the State Environmental Protection and Resources Commission of Turkmenistan. It systematically collects the identification characteristics and control guidelines of 17 major harmful locust species in the country (including 8 common species in farmland and 9 locally emerging species). Through high-definition ecological photos and morphological illustrations, the bioecological characteristics, geographical distribution rules and identification points from similar species of various grasshoppers are described in detail. In particular, early monitoring and early warning plans have been proposed for major agricultural pests such as desert locusts and Asian migratory locusts to provide technical support for the agriculture and animal husbandry departments. </p>
