Karst research in the Central Ural region has been weak for a long time. Although special surveys have been carried out in some areas, combined with drilling and geophysical exploration work, areas with strong karst development have been delineated, the thickness of karstified rock layers has been determined, the distribution of groundwater levels has been ascertained, and structural fracture zones and buried erosion cutting zones have been discovered. Geological structural characteristics, but relevant data are scattered in documents, archives and collections, making it very difficult to use. At the same time, in areas where soluble carbonate rocks and sulfate rocks are widely distributed, it is difficult for any economic construction activity to succeed if it ignores karst conditions, because the karst process affects almost every field of human production and social activities (Апро д о в озд е н кий, 1948, 1954; а й н ев, 1940;Со к оло в, 1962). This research is the first comprehensive summary of the Central Ural Karst. The research is based on the analysis and collation of a large number of literature materials, and combined with the author's field investigation results along multiple routes across the Ural Mountains, a systematic study of the karst development characteristics in this area was carried out. The author mainly discusses the practical significance of karst from the aspects of water conservancy engineering, transportation engineering, industrial and civil buildings, and water supply issues. Among them, water supply issues are one of the most prominent natural resource and engineering geological issues in the Central Ural region. In addition, the author pays special attention to the relationship between karst phenomena and mineral resource development.
