This book is the first monograph to systematically study the hydrography of Central Asian rivers during the Soviet period. Based on hydrological observation data and field investigations from the 1930s to 1940s, the author focuses on analyzing the relationship between runoff formation mechanism, hydrological characteristics and geographical environment in Central Asia (covering the Amu Darya, Syr Darya, Chu River and other river basins), and proposes empirical calculation formulas suitable for water conservancy project design. The book breaks through the traditional hydrological description model and emphasizes the comprehensive analysis of hydrological processes and natural-social and economic factors, providing scientific basis for large-scale water conservancy construction (such as irrigation projects) in Central Asia at that time.
