<p>This monograph can be divided into three parts. The first part is introduction techniques and species screening, focusing on 137 species of woody plants (such as Robinia pseudoacacia, Hippophae, Gleditsia japonica, etc.) introduced from East Asia, North America, Europe and other places, and detailing their seed treatment, seedling cultivation and planting methods. Studies have found that for introduction in arid areas, priority should be given to species with developed root systems and thick cuticle of leaves, such as Populus simonii and Ulmus chinensis, whose survival rate is 20%-30% higher than that of local species. The second part analyzes the ecological performance of introduced plants and reveals the differences in adaptability of species from different geographical origins: East Asian species (such as Mongolian oak) have outstanding cold tolerance, North American species (such as sycamore trees) are more adapted to extreme high temperatures, while European species (such as European red pine) grow slowly under poor soil conditions. Experimental data shows that 10 years after introduction, 65% of the species can naturally winter, and 32% require simple protection measures. The third part discusses the impact of introduction on local ecology, pointing out that reasonable mixed planting models (such as three-layer structure of arbors, shrubs and herbs) can improve community stability and reduce soil evaporation by 25%-40%. The study also found that 28 introduced species showed invasive potential, and long-term monitoring of their spread risks was needed. </p>
