This textbook covers modern issues in microbiology: the structural metabolism and energy metabolism characteristics of major groups of microorganisms, the evolution of energy processes, the structure and chemical composition of prokaryotic cells, chemical and biological evolution pathways, and the origin and further development of life. The second edition generally retains the structure of the first edition, but some chapters have undergone major revisions, reflecting recent progress in the study of certain groups of prokaryotes.
