[Mosuowan Station for Desert Research] The station area is located in Company 2 of Regiment 150th Mosuowan Reclamation Area in Shihezi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, in the Manas River Basin. It is 100 kilometers away from Shihezi City in the south and 240 kilometers away from Urumqi City in the east. The east, west and north sides of the station area are deserts. The station area is 198 hectares, with geographical coordinates: 45°01 'north latitude, 86°06' east longitude, and an altitude of 346 m. It has a typical continental arid climate, with an average annual temperature of 6.6 ℃, an average temperature of 25.8℃ in July, and an average temperature of 18.4℃ in January. The average annual precipitation is 117 mm, and the average annual evaporation is 1,979.5 mm. The frost-free period is 135 to 205 days. The site types in the station area mainly include farmland, natural forest land, artificial forest land, abandoned land, sand dunes, bare land, etc. The main site types outside the station area are fixed and semi-fixed sand ridges. The typical soil in the region is gray desert soil and sandy soil, and the vegetation is mainly sandy xerophyte such as Haloxylon ammodendron and Calligonum. Natural sandy landforms and desert vegetation are distributed in the station area. There are also artificial restoration of Haloxylon ammodendron fixed sand and farmland. The main crops are cotton, grain and oilseeds. Living areas, water harvesting afforestation areas and desert conservation areas are mainly set up in the station area. The living area is equipped with a comprehensive office building, warehouse, reservoir, wind tunnel laboratory, dormitory building, seedling introduction and planting area, organic agriculture area, shrub planting area, nursery area, water harvesting afforestation experimental area, new material experimental area, etc.
