Xinjiang [Cele National Station of Observation and Research for Desert-Grassland Ecosystems] was founded in 1983. The desert front in front of Jianzhan Station is only 1.5 km away from Cele County. In order to cope with the severe desertification control situation faced by the 1400-kilometer sandstorm oases under Shalin City and around the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang, the People's Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the China Academy of Sciences held an on-site joint office meeting in Celle County and decided to establish the Celle Desert Research Station. Cele Station was included in the Desertification Monitoring Network of the State Forestry Administration in 2001, joined the Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) of the China Academy of Sciences in 2003, and joined the National Ecosystem Research Network Station in 2005, named Xinjiang [Cele National Station of Observation and Research for Desert-Grassland Ecosystems].
