AB  - "Northern Chronicle Volume 2" is a series of collected works edited by the Committee on Northern Affairs of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union. It contains many papers on research and development in the Soviet Arctic region. The content of the book is divided into three major sections: the exploration and development activities of the north (especially the Arctic) during the Soviet period, including the navigation logs of the "Arctic-3" and "Arctic-4" drifting scientific research stations, and the work records of the Siberian Grain Expedition in 1920, the Novi Island Expedition and the Central Arctic Scientific Drifting Station; The history of geographical discovery covers the early expeditions of Kamchatka, the 17th century map of the Zedyka Islands, the voyages of Chukchi and Alaska, the discovery history of the Svalbard Islands and the remains of the early settlement on Wrangel Island; as well as the history of the struggle for economic development in the north, involving the Second Siberian Pacific Expedition, the history of Uhta oil exploration, the construction of the northern railway and the sea route to Pechora. At the end of the book, there are also foreign research developments and news reports on Svalbard, the Northwest Passage, the Central Arctic and Russian America. The book provides rich reference materials for studying the history of polar science, historical geography and regional development of the Soviet Union.
