Давыдов), was originally published in two volumes by the State Leningrad University Press of the USSR in 1953 and 1955, respectively.The first volume is the general section and provides an overall discussion of the land waters of the Soviet Union, including rivers, glaciers, lakes, and marshes. Excluding the preface, it consists of fifteen chapters. It begins with an account of the history of hydrological and hydrogeographical investigations in the USSR, and then systematically examines the fundamental patterns governing the distribution of the country's land waters, as well as the distinguishing characteristics of river regimes, erosional activity, hydrochemical properties, and related topics.The second volume is the regional section and contains sixteen chapters. It presents a regional description of the land hydrology of the Soviet Union based on natural geographical conditions. The Chinese translation includes the complete text of the first volume and one chapter from the second volume, namely Chapter 7: The Volga River Basin.Hydrography of the USSR is a specialized work on the land hydrology of the Soviet Union.
