Its natural potential is enormous, including oil and natural gas reserves, rich forest resources, extensive peat deposits, and valuable forage meadows on the floodplains of the Ob and Irtysh rivers. At present, Western Siberia is a priority area for economic development, particularly in connection with the exploitation of oil and gas fields, the construction of large industrial complexes, and the implementation of projects to divert the flow of Siberian rivers southward. The resolutions of the Twenty-Sixth Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, as well as decisions of the Party and Government regarding the implementation of the national Food Program, assign great importance to the development of the region's natural wealth. The distinctive natural character of the West Siberian Plain is determined by its geological and geomorphological structure, paleogeography, and modern hydrological and climatic processes. Structurally, the plain is a Late Hercynian platform with a folded pre-Jurassic basement. Its modern relief is dominated by extensive accumulative plains composed of unconsolidated Quaternary deposits (sand, sandy loam, and clay), with relative elevations of about 100 meters. These plains occupy all interfluvial areas of central Western Siberia. Only in the south are there low structural-denudational uplands reaching up to 300 meters in height, including the Vasyugan Upland, the Chulym-Yenisei Upland, and the Ob Plateau. In the central Ob region, low-lying glaciofluvial plains are crossed from west to east by a series of glacial ridges, including the Lyulin Vor and the Siberian Uvaly. Erosional landforms are represented by the valley systems of major rivers such as the Ob, Irtysh, Nazym, Pur, and Taz rivers and their numerous tributaries. The climate of the West Sibe DB - EGIDC UR - https://data.dcxjegi.cn/portal/metadata/52f40371-dc92-4688-8732-428b62acd0df ER -
