AB  - This book focuses on the rational utilization of natural resources, integrating both macro-level methodological studies and specialized research on resource conservation. Its theoretical principles possess broad applicability, while its practical application framework is tailored to the regional realities of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. The book represents a comprehensive summary of Belarus’s decades of ecological protection practices and research achievements.Systematic ecological protection in Belarus began in the 1950s. The state successively introduced specialized regulations on the protection of water and soil resources, forests, and wildlife, while gradually establishing a comprehensive ecological governance framework. In 1955, the Academy of Sciences Committee for Nature Protection was founded; in 1960, the State Committee for Nature Protection was established; and in 1962, the National Nature Protection Society was organized. Scientific institutions, government agencies, and social organizations worked collaboratively to advance ecological conservation efforts.During the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, dozens of Belarusian research institutes, universities, and design organizations carried out extensive studies on ecological protection and implemented numerous comprehensive environmental governance programs. Key initiatives focused on urban environmental improvement, efficient resource utilization, the development of waste-free technologies, and the enhancement of environmental legislation. Soil improvement projects in the Polesie region also provided valuable practical experience for the rational utilization of regional resources.In recent years, Belarus has continued to strengthen the foundations of ecological protection by designating large numbers of protected areas for lakes, wetlands, and peatlands; developing integrated plans for nature conservation zones across the entire territory; and compiling the Red Data Book of the Byelorussian Sovi
