%X The Atlas of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic is Kazakhstan's first comprehensive scientific reference geographical atlas. Its compilation was carried out in accordance with the decision proposed by the Kazakh Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union and reviewed and adopted by the Council of Ministers of the Republic. The atlas summarizes and displays the work results of various institutes of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences and scientific research institutions in various industries over the years in a cartographic form. It aims to provide scientific basis for tasks such as rational utilization of natural resources, development of productivity, and planning of the cultural construction of the Republic. The book consists of two volumes: the first volume collects extensive information on the natural conditions and natural resources of the Republic and was delivered in 1982; the second volume contains socio-economic maps and historical maps, describing the demographic situation of the Republic and the level of development of industry, agriculture, transportation, education, health care, science, and culture, and reproduces a series of historical events in the Republic's past. As the first systematic geographical atlas of the Republic, this book comprehensively reflects the overall nature, economy, society and history of Kazakhstan, and provides complete map data for a systematic understanding of the country's national conditions.
