It serves as a continuation of the previously published series entitled Glaciological Studies during the International Geophysical Year (1961-1964).The volume presents research findings on snow cover and atmospheric precipitation in the Trans-Ili Alatau, the radiation and heat balance of glaciated areas, glacier ice reserves, the thickness and mass of mountain glaciers, glacier ice ablation and glacial river runoff, as well as thermal survey investigations along field routes. Several papers address glacier moraines, the physical and mechanical properties of moraine deposits, and issues related to the formation of glacial debris flows.The papers devoted to glaciation in the Dzungarian Alatau focus primarily on the morphometry and morphology of modern glaciers in the eastern part of the range, as well as the results of seismic sounding experiments conducted to determine the thickness, extent, and age of ancient glaciation.Two papers are specifically devoted to the Belaya Berel Glacier in the Altai region, examining its morphology, changes over recent decades, and hydrological conditions. The materials presented in this collection enable readers to gain a deeper understanding of the most important features of the natural geographical environment of the high mountain regions of Kazakhstan. These characteristics must be taken into account when developing and utilizing mountain areas and adjacent plains, including the design of hydraulic engineering structures such as hydroelectric power stations, debris-flow protection facilities, reservoirs, and dams, as well as industrial, civil, and sports facilities, and the planning of irrigation systems for agricultural lands in the foothill zones.This collection is intended for researchers, university teachers, and students in the fields of glaciology, physical geography
