本数据选用2000年前后Landsat TM/ETM+遥感数据和Google earth数据作为数据源，经过平面矫正与正射校正后，采用波段比值阈值法自动提取，提取了天山和帕米尔高原2000年的冰川解译结果，再经过重要地区实地考察验证和高精度数据辅助人工验证方法，误差经过多次修正，得到了中亚天山和帕米尔高原2000年的冰川编目数据集。数据集包含Randolph冰川编码、GLIMS编码、遥感数据起始截至时期、冰川坐标、冰川海拔、冰川面积、坡度、朝向、最大长度和冰川类型等15个属性要素。
