本数据来源于1960年由哈萨克斯坦苏维埃社会主义共和国科学院土壤科学研究所编著的《哈萨克斯坦苏维埃社会主义共和国土壤》系列丛书之第1卷-《北哈萨克斯坦州土壤》一书。\n全套丛书共16册，是在苏联垦荒运动（1954年开始）的指引下，在国家农业部或地方政府部门组织开展各州的土壤野外考察工作的基础上，哈萨克斯坦科学院土壤研究所的专家学者收集整理、综合研究历史资料和野外实地考察资料，撰写而成的，土壤调查目的是为了了解垦荒时期农业用地和未开垦地的情况，选择合适的开垦地进行种植，形成的成果服务于当时哈萨克斯坦各地区（州）的农业生产和农业规划。\n书中详细描述了北哈萨克斯坦州的自然地理条件、土壤研究历史沿革、土壤系统、土壤自然区划。\n书中的土壤化学分析工作由哈萨克斯坦共和国科学院土壤研究所实验室完成。\n2017年，中科院中亚生态与环境研究中心通过国际合作项目从哈萨克斯坦科学院图书馆获得此书的扫描件，课题组按照国内档案行业标准对PDF扫描文件的分辨率、存储格式、有无压缩等进行扫描质量的审查，然后在扫描文件中挑选出带有“土壤剖面”信息的数据表，对这些数据表所在的页面进行OCR识别，生成xls格式文件，并对识别结果进行质量验收；组织俄语专业人员对书中的前言、章节概要和土壤数据表表头进行翻译和整理，合并中文表头信息和内容数据形成电子表格版的“1960年哈萨克斯坦北哈萨克斯坦州土壤数据集”，由土壤专业人员对表头信息进行专业词语的修正，数据包含185个剖面采样点。数值，小数位，度量单位未做修改，并经过多次多人核对。
